Better late than never!

A while back I had an aerial photoshoot to be published upon completion documenting a roofing system on buildings that were at Iowa State University's campus as well as a building in Des Moines. We had a photo assignment to photograph the installation of a Wind-Vented Roofing System on Iowa State University's Leid Recreation building. I tracked the progress of the roof being installed and photographed milestones and progress work. I'd grab my hard hat and camera and climb up the tallest ladder I've ever SEEN to reach the views I wanted. Looking back, it was probably kind of dangerous and if I had to redo it, I probably would have brought a co-shooter with me so we could hand the cameras off to one another instead of risking them falling off of a building, but that never happened so PHEW.

This project took about 4-5 months to complete and at the end I got to do my very first AERIAL PHOTOSHOOT. It was awesome. The company arranged all of this, but I met a nice older gentleman named Craig in the middle of a Iowa in the tiniest airport ever and we hopped in his little 2-seater plane and took off! It was a nice day, but freezing when you're sticking your head out of a plane with a camera all whilst trying not to fall out. It really was a great experience and now Phoveo just needs to buy our own plane so we can do aerial shoots all the time. For now though, I have the hookup with Craig in case more shoots come in the future. We first flew to Ames, Iowa where I photographed a few buildings on Iowa State University's campus with the final Wind Vented Roofing System in place and then jetted over to West Des Moines, IA where I photographed another larger scale building with the same roofing system in place.

Finally, in December, the article (that these photographs were taken for) was published in "Roofing Contractor Magazine". I'm glad all the time and effort to complete this article was finally recognized and published. It's a great product and I am glad Phoveo could be a part of capturing the benefits that this roofing system has to offer!

We (almost) met Zach Braff.

Just wrapped up a trip to New York to visit a couple friends I met while on my world tour... Cara is from Australia and I met her whilst on a safari in Kenya and she just so happened to be in the good ole U S of A for work! She brought along her boyfriend Van from South Africa and I brought along my friend Meagan from college! It was great to see her and I just so happened to get some pretty cool pictures during my trip there... it helped that we stayed at THE COOLEST PLACE EVER in Brooklyn. It was basically TOUCHING distance to the Manhattan bridge! T'was awesome. We walked a ton and went to see Bullets on Broadway starring Zach Braff and you might as well say we met him. SOMEHOW, when we were leaving the theater after the show, we went down and down and down some stairs and ended up like BEHIND THE SCENES. We stood there thinking it maybe led to the outside, but then it was this weird backstage area and people were lined up with flowers and stuff and we said "where are we?" to some of the people and they just stared at us as if we were crazy! We waited for a bit and people were running to cast members and hugging them so then since everyone was RUDE backstage we left. So yeah, we pretty much met Zach Braff.

All in all (minus Meagan's cancelled flight on the way there and my cancelled flight on the way back, and Cara and Van's like 25 hour flying experience to and fro the land down under), it was SO much fun. Check it out!

We're IN A MAGAZINE!

YOU GUYS, we are legitimately published in a magazine!! As most of you know and can see on our website, we are the product photographers for both www.antiquefarmhouse.com as well as www.decorsteals.com and have been for almost a year now. We found out we really love product photography, it's fun to be able to design the shoots, but keep them in line with the company's overall "look". Anyway, a few of our product photos are now in "Romantic Homes" Magazine March edition and we couldn't be happier! In fact, we went out and bought three copies and I had to post this all before March was over...which is TODAY.

[Newborn] . Miss Ella

Little Miss Ella was a dream baby to work with at only 7 days old! She is so adorable and I think MAYBE cried one time during our entire session and it was when we were trying to fit her in a shoe. So I mean, can we really blame her?! Take a look at this little cutie.

It's been a long time coming, but PHOVEO IS UP AND RUNNING!!!

We are so excited to (what seems like FINALLY) launch our photography + videography website! After much deliberation and NAMESTORMING as I call it, the name of our business - Phoveo (fo-vee-yo) - was born.  It had been a long time coming because I would change my mind like EVERY day. We love the name and how the site came together!

Anyway, Jake did all the company branding with his graphic design brilliance... and let me just tell you - our business cards are pretty kick ass as well if I do say so myself. I'll keep this short and sweet - we will be adding pictures from all of our shoots on an ongoing basis and for those of you wondering, I still have approximately one BILLION more travel pictures to add, so that won't take long at all. Just so you ALSO know, Laura will be running the blog for Phoveo, and it may seem laid back and informal at times, but that's totally the point (no, that does not mean that Jake and I will show up to shoot your wedding in flannel pajama pants - we are very professional in real life, but still laid back). I'll be updating the blog frequently with shoots, news about us, or just something that's so cool it NEEDS to be blogged about.

So check out our brand new site and contact us with any questions or booking inquiries!

I feel like I need to come up with a cool way to sign off of my blog posts, but until I actually think of something, I'll just put NOTHING. K BYE!
